Maui is introducing a new bike safety program designed for children, marking a first for the island.
The Maui Bicycling League, in partnership with the Maui Family YMCA, announced the Keiki Bike Education Program, which will teach children aged 7 to 13 essential biking skills and safety tips.
In addition to learning safety, the program offers kids the chance to participate in group rides and understand how biking can be an environmentally friendly transportation option.
The program will officially launch Monday at Lahaina Intermediate School during its Spring Break Day Camp. Organizers hope to expand the initiative throughout Maui County, with a goal of reaching 2,000 children this year.
