The Allan Labor Government is offering free Kinder Kits to every child starting three-year-old kindergarten this year. The kits, filled with books, toys, and stationery, aim to give children the best possible start in life.
Today, Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn visited Early Learning Victoria Muyan to reveal this year’s Kinder Kits. Around 70,000 children beginning three-year-old kindergarten this year will receive one.
With the rising costs families face, early learning materials shouldn’t be an added worry. These Kinder Kits ensure every child can benefit from Free Kinder, providing fun and educational activities that support lifelong learning.
The kits include items that encourage creativity and learning. Children can use playdough, crayons, and stacking blocks for imaginative play. They can also plant alfalfa seeds and enjoy stories from Australian authors. This year’s kits double as a backpack that transforms into a felt playing surface for extra fun.
Other educational items in the kits include timber story rollers, a colouring book, a jumping frog game, a math card game, and felt stickers for creating stories on the backpack’s lining.
Early Learning Victoria Muyan, one of four new government-operated childcare centres this year, offers affordable care and kindergarten programs. These centres also provide Free Kinder, helping parents return to work or study with more affordable childcare options.
