Road Improvement Team Visits Preschool to Plan Upgrades

The team behind the Epping Road upgrade recently brought a mix of education and fun to the children of Epping Preschool during a special visit on November 25.

Dressed in child-sized safety vests and hard hats, team members spent an hour with the preschoolers, leading activities that introduced them to how local roads connect their community. The children had the chance to design their own roads linking various local places and amenities.

As a keepsake from the visit, the project team gifted the preschool a set of booklets filled with road-related games and activities.

Thomastown MP Bronwyn Halfpenny praised the initiative as a creative way for young children to learn about their region. “I’m thrilled that our local preschoolers had fun while learning about road-building and how walking and cycling paths help connect communities,” she said. “The project team’s visit was a great way to highlight the benefits of this important investment, which will serve future generations.”

Once the Epping Road upgrade is completed in 2025, the improvements will make travel safer and easier for children, staff, and families heading to the preschool. The project includes the addition of an extra lane in each direction on Epping Road, as well as enhanced walking and cycling paths.

The upgrade will also see improvements to six key intersections, further improving connections for pedestrians and cyclists.
