The Chaney Family Preschool, part of the YMCA, is ready to welcome new families, offering quality early childhood education in a modern, nurturing environment. With a dedicated team and a focus on fostering a love of learning, the preschool provides full-time childcare for infants through pre-K.
The preschool features multiple common areas, an indoor playground, and dedicated spaces for music, dance, and reading. These facilities are designed to meet children’s developmental needs while ensuring their safety and engagement.
Laurie Adams, the associate executive director of early learning, explained that the preschool’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that children learn best through play. The curriculum, based on the Frog Street framework, is aligned with local school districts and emphasizes language, literacy, and emotional development. Adams stressed the importance of allowing children to explore their interests while teachers offer support and guidance.
“Children thrive in environments where they can experiment and explore,” Adams said.
A typical day at the preschool includes structured activities as well as free play. Children take part in circle time, outdoor play, meals, and nap time. Social-emotional development is also a priority, with activities designed to help children regulate their emotions and interact positively with others. This balanced routine encourages physical growth and social connection.
“The Frog Street curriculum focuses on conscious discipline,” Adams said. “It promotes community, behavior management, self-regulation, and social-emotional development.”
Emotional intelligence is a key focus, with teachers helping children identify and express their feelings through specific activities and discussions. This approach lays a strong foundation for children as they prepare for kindergarten.
The preschool also offers continuity of care, with primary teachers staying with children for extended periods. This helps build strong relationships and emotional security, enabling children to thrive both academically and socially.
Adams noted the benefits of enrolling infants, pointing out that families who start in the infant room often stay for years, allowing the preschool to support children through various stages of development.
What sets the Chaney Family Preschool apart is its access to enrichment programs at the YMCA, such as sports, gymnastics, and swim lessons, all incorporated into the daily schedule. This allows children to enjoy diverse experiences and helps families save time, providing more quality moments at home.
“We want families to know we have openings across all age groups,” said Creative Director Allison Romo. “Our goal is to grow with them, offering a supportive environment for every stage of their child’s development.”
The preschool charges weekly fees, but families can choose to make monthly payments. Financial aid is available.
