Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica Tan emphasized the need for a shift in teaching practices, calling for more creativity and innovation among early childhood education (PAUD) teachers.
“There is nothing more valuable than a teacher. By training teachers, we are building a better generation,” Tan stated in a ministry press release on Sunday.
Her remarks came during the launch of the Merdeka Curriculum Implementation Training for PAUD teachers in Jakarta on November 21.
Tan highlighted that the Merdeka Curriculum provides an opportunity for teachers to explore creative teaching methods.
“This curriculum allows teachers greater flexibility to develop learning approaches tailored to children’s needs,” she explained.
Beyond cognitive development, Tan underscored the importance of nurturing children’s morality, character, and national values through education.
The training program aims to enhance PAUD teachers’ skills by emphasizing the innovative and adaptable elements of the curriculum.
According to Tan, the initiative encourages teachers to utilize resources from their environment, including materials and technology, to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
“This program equips teachers to think creatively and teach with heart,” she noted.
Tan expressed her hope that the training would empower teachers to innovate within the constraints they face, while still adhering to educational standards.
