Khelshala Celebrates 15th Anniversary with New Kitchen to Support Underserved Children in Chandigarh.
Khelshala, a squash and education non-profit, marked its 15th anniversary by unveiling a new kitchen at its site in Chandigarh, India. The facility will provide three meals a week to the 75 underserved children the organization serves annually.
Founded in 2009 by Satinder Bajwa, the former Director of Squash at Harvard University, Khelshala began with the mission of offering both educational and athletic opportunities to children in the village of Attawa, Chandigarh. Since its inception, the organization has supported over 500 children, many of whom have gone on to graduate high school and university.
In addition to academic success, Khelshala participants have excelled in squash. More than 50 children have competed in SRFI junior tournaments, 15 have achieved national-level status, and three have become WSF-certified coaches.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Britford Bridge Trust, the new kitchen will allow Khelshala to provide nutritious meals for the children, further enhancing the support the organization offers.
