A total of 86 participants from various municipalities in Apayao have successfully completed a three-day orientation on the new Early Child Care Development (ECCD) Recognition Tools for Internal Evaluators. The training, conducted by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), took place from September 17 to 19, 2024, at Star Jewel Lodge in San Isidro.
The primary goal of the orientation was to enhance the quality of ECCD programs and promote optimal development outcomes for children. The training also aimed to address gaps in the evaluation process and improve the overall quality of ECCD services in Apayao.
Participants included 27 ECCD evaluators from the municipalities of Conner and Calanasan, 32 from Flora, Luna, and Santa Marcela, and 27 from Kabugao and Pudtol. The attendees consisted of child development workers, barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, barangay captains, and other focal persons from across the province.
Key topics covered during the training included the seven areas of ECCD Recognition Tools and guidance on how to complete the ECCD Score Sheet Form. Thelma M. Pugyao, a social worker and focal person for the program, led the discussions.
The orientation equipped participants with a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in evaluating programs tailored to meet the specific needs of Apayao. They were introduced to ECCD standards, assessment methodologies, and the local context essential for effective evaluation.
