Licensed child care providers in Pennsylvania are invited to apply for the 2024-25 PA NAP SACC Wellness Grant. Eligible providers must care for at least four children aged birth to five years, and previous participants may also apply.
About the Grant
The PA NAP SACC Wellness Grant offers an opportunity for child care programs to enhance their practices related to obesity prevention. The grant supports a continuous quality improvement process focused on healthy practices and policies in early care and education settings.
The program uses Go NAPSACC, an online tool based on research, to assist with self-assessment, action planning, policy development, and reflection. It provides personalized technical support to boost knowledge and improve practices.
Each participating program will receive free support from a child care health consultant. This consultant will review current nutrition and physical activity practices, help develop lasting policies, and offer guidance for quality improvement.
Programs that meet all grant requirements can earn up to $500. This funding can be used to cover staff time or purchase necessary materials and resources.
Additional Information
For child care programs rated STAR 3 and 4, participating in the PA NAP SACC Wellness Grant fulfills Keystone STARS performance standards for using a healthcare consultant and helps achieve bonus points in the Partnerships with Families and Communities area by promoting child nutritional health.
After the application period closes, applicants will be invited to a webinar on October 23 from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. The webinar will be recorded and shared with all eligible applicants. Enrollment in the program will be based on the first 50 programs that complete the tasks outlined in the webinar.
