ND HHS Develops Toolkit for Employers on Child Care Resources

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – The availability and cost of child care often play a crucial role in employment decisions.

When child care options are limited or expensive, parents might opt for jobs that allow them to stay home or may even leave the workforce altogether.

To address this issue, North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) has developed a new toolkit for employers. The toolkit, available both online and as a PDF, provides detailed information on resources for working parents and their employers.

“This toolkit will assist employers and HR directors in guiding parents who are concerned about the cost of child care,” said Kay Larson, director of the Early Childhood Division at HHS. “The state offers two significant programs to support families with child care expenses. One is the Child Care Assistance Program, and the other is the ‘Working Parents Child Care Relief’ program, which provides state matching funds for employer-sponsored child care benefits.”
