INDIANAPOLIS — Martin University has unveiled a new free half-day preschool program, set to begin on September 9. The program, named the Pre-K Care & Learning Center, will be held at the university’s campus at 2186 N. Sherman Drive.

Children aged 3 to 4 can now enroll in the program, which offers two session options: 8 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.

The preschool will provide creative play along with a curriculum based on research. It combines teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, tailored to each child’s unique learning style and interests.

Dr. Sean Huddleston, president and CEO of Martin University, emphasized the program’s alignment with the university’s commitment to supporting families and enhancing lifelong learning. “This free preschool program highlights Martin’s dedication to education for all ages and aims to support our students balancing education with family and work responsibilities,” he said.

Founded in 1977, Martin University is Indiana’s only Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) of higher education.
