The Nest Schools, an early childhood education provider, is set to open its first location in Connecticut. The new facility will be situated in Simsbury, marking the company’s debut in the state.

Miami-based Fortec, a real estate development firm, will oversee the construction of a 15,000-square-foot building at 30 Hopmeadow Street. The $5 million project recently broke ground and is slated for completion by next summer.

Fortec acquired the 5-acre site for $860,000 and has secured a 17-year lease with The Nest Schools for the new facility.

The Simsbury center will house six preschool classrooms, nine toddler rooms, three infant classrooms, and feature a natural playground. It will have the capacity to serve up to 220 children and is expected to generate 35 new jobs for the area.

The Nest Schools operates 52 facilities across various states, including Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.

Milford Federal provided the financing for the project, while Northmarq’s Milo Spector represented Fortec in the transaction.

Fortec has developed over 300,000 square feet of commercial real estate across multiple states and internationally. Since 2020, the company has completed more than $150 million in commercial real estate transactions.
