LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) — The Henderson City Council has given the green light to a new $15 million early childhood education center.
The planned facility will span nearly 15,000 square feet and include approximately nine classrooms designed to accommodate 180 preschoolers. Additionally, the center will feature playgrounds and administrative offices. It will be situated at the Valley View Recreation Center.
This decision aligns with the City’s Quality Education Initiative, aimed at expanding access to high-quality preschool education. “This is another exciting investment in our commitment to quality education in Henderson,” said Mayor Michelle Romero. “We know that 90% of a child’s brain development occurs before kindergarten begins.”
Currently, 40% of three- and four-year-olds in Henderson are enrolled in preschool programs. City officials hope the new center will boost this figure.
“This project will also provide more childcare options for families in need,” Mayor Romero added.
Construction is expected to be completed by 2027.
