Goldfish Swim School, a leading swim school in North America, has announced the launch of its 4th annual “Safer Swimmer Pledge” initiative in recognition of National Water Safety Month this May. With drowning being a significant cause of death among children aged 1 to 14, particularly during summer, this pledge aims to promote water safety awareness.
The Safer Swimmer Pledge consists of five essential rules for smart water practices:
1. Always follow water safety rules whether at home, the beach, or pool.
2. Always have an adult present while swimming.
3. Wear a life jacket when near water or on a boat.
4. Never jump into water without knowing its depth.
5. Know how to help someone in need in the water by throwing them a floating object and seeking adult assistance.
Olympic Gold Medalists and Goldfish Swim School Ambassadors, Ryan Murphy and Cullen Jones, will encourage participation in the pledge, inspiring children nationwide to prioritize water safety.
Ryan Murphy emphasized the positive impact of swimming on children’s safety and confidence, expressing his commitment to working with Goldfish Swim School to promote water safety.
Cullen Jones, the first African American to hold a world record in swimming, shared his personal experience of nearly drowning at a young age and highlighted the importance of water safety education.
Goldfish Swim School aims to enhance participation in the pledge by partnering with LEGOLAND® New York, offering exciting prizes for families who take the pledge online. Prizes include visits to LEGOLAND resorts, cash prizes, and LEGO® products. Additionally, the school with the highest number of pledges will win a VIP pool party.
Goldfish Swim School Franchising will donate $1 to the USA Swimming Foundation for every virtual pledge, with donations doubled on International Water Safety Day.
CEO and co-founder of Goldfish Swim School, Chris McCuiston, expressed excitement about the increasing impact of the pledge initiative and encouraged everyone to join in.
Special activities and resources for National Water Safety Month include a water safety tour in Florida and crucial updates from pediatrician Dr. Molly O’Shea on the Goldfish Swim School website and social media channels.
