This week, kids and caregivers at Blessing Early Learning Center are participating in “The Week of the Young Child,” a nationally recognized event sponsored by The National Association for the Education of Young Children. The event, which began in 1971, highlights the importance of early childhood education.
On Monday morning, the center kicked off the celebrations with a parade. Hundreds of students and staff marched around the Blessing campus to mark the occasion. The annual event honors young children and expresses gratitude to early childhood educators and caregivers.
Karen Mosley, director of the Blessing Childhood Early Learning Center, emphasized the significance of early childhood education in shaping children’s futures. “It’s important for children to have a strong start for lifelong success,” Mosley said.
Mosley, who has worked in early childhood education for 37 years, shared her passion for the field. “I get to help incredible teachers succeed,” she said, “and that’s been incredibly rewarding.”
In addition to the parade, this week’s activities include a petting zoo, a concert, and a transportation rally. Quincy Notre Dame athletes are also scheduled to visit and talk to the children about sports.
