The first-ever Children’s Character Festival kicked off on Sunday, with key figures such as Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Chris Sun Yuk-han, and the incoming chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Frederick Ma Si-hang, attending the opening ceremony.
The festival invited children aged 3 to 10 to share stories inspired by their own experiences, focusing on the theme of kindness. Participants were encouraged to express their thoughts through drawings or written stories.
Over the two-day event, the children will present their stories in English, sharing them with judges and the audience.
In his speech, Sun highlighted the human capacity for developing good character, contrasting this with artificial intelligence. He stressed the importance of fostering positive traits at an early age.
The festival’s goal is to inspire kindness through storytelling, helping to shape the next generation into compassionate and responsible individuals.
