The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has released ₹13.44 lakh to support the education of Sikligar and Vanjara Sikh children. The funds will cover school and college fees for these students.
Sikligar and Vanjara Sikhs are subgroups within the Sikh community, mainly living in central and southern India. They are often seen as marginalized due to their historical roles as itinerant traders and metalworkers.
SGPC members, including Rajinder Singh Mehta, Surjit Singh Bhittewad, Sukhwarsh Singh Pannu from the Dharam Parchar Committee, and Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, the secretary of the same committee, handed over the funds to school principals. The amount will benefit 111 students in Raipur and other areas of Chhattisgarh.
Mehta emphasized, “This financial support aims to empower Sikligar and Vanjara Sikh children through education.”
