Some of the youngest students in Georgetown Independent School District (GISD) have started the school year in a brand-new facility: the GISD Early Learning Center (ELC).
Key Details:
The ELC, which provides preschool care during regular school hours, held its grand opening on November 12. The center serves children from six weeks to five years old, offering support for the children of district employees and students, according to Elisabeth Thomison, ELC Coordinator.
The center is part of GISD’s larger $97 million bond project, which includes the construction of the Future Ready Complex. This complex will house several of the district’s career and technical education programs.
What They’re Saying:
At the opening ceremony, Thomison addressed district employees and community members, emphasizing the significance of the new facility. “This school is much more than just a building,” Thomison stated. “It’s a space where dreams will be nurtured, challenges will be overcome, and lifelong friendships will be formed. Here, young minds will grow, develop, and discover their incredible potential.”
Enrollment Information:
The ELC is currently operating with a waitlist. GISD employees interested in enrolling their children are encouraged to apply to join the waitlist for available spots.
