Missoula, Mont. — TEACH Academy, a charter school in Missoula, is introducing a fresh approach to early education. Since its opening in August, the school has been focused on finding new ways to engage with the community and improve its educational programs.
As one of two charter schools in the Missoula County Public Schools (MCPS) district, TEACH Academy serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The school emphasizes arts integration in its curriculum and currently enrolls around 85 students. In January, the school will reopen enrollment and assess community interest for potential new classes.
A key priority for TEACH Academy is increasing parent involvement. The school has created a parent advisory committee to gather feedback from families. Principal Frank highlighted the importance of parent input, particularly for a planned playground renovation. “Parents have told us that the playground needs improvement, and we are working to address that with their help,” she said.
TEACH Academy is also committed to fostering an inclusive environment. The school has a diverse student body, including many students from international backgrounds who speak multiple languages. In response to requests from parents, the school plans to incorporate more multicultural celebrations alongside its traditional holiday events.
Alongside TEACH Academy, Connect Academy, another MCPS charter school offering online education for grades 6-12, is also seeing growth, attracting students from across Montana.
