A co-owner of Whittington Pre-School near Worcester has commended her staff after the preschool received a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted during its recent inspection.

The inspection took place on September 13, and Beverly Bradley, the preschool’s co-owner, expressed her satisfaction with the outcome. “We are delighted with the result, although we would have loved an ‘Outstanding’ rating,” she said. “Our team of ladies does a wonderful job. They each play a role in caring for the children and building strong relationships with their parents.”

Whittington Pre-School provides care for children aged two until they start primary school. Its facilities include dedicated rooms for preschoolers and toddlers, as well as a large outdoor area and a forest school.

In the inspection report, Ofsted noted that “children’s communication and language skills progress well,” thanks to staff who provide “clear instructions” to support learning.

Mrs. Bradley, who has 27 years of experience in early childhood education, remarked, “Communication and language skills in children aren’t as strong today as they once were. We focus heavily on that area and are very inclusive regarding our support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).”

The report emphasized the dedication of the managers and staff, highlighting their commitment to supporting children with a range of complex needs. Ofsted also praised the preschool’s emphasis on collaborating with other professionals to ensure that children with SEND receive appropriate support.

With a team of 18 staff members, alongside two owners, Mrs. Bradley noted, “Our team supports each other. Whether it’s a manager or a practitioner, we are all one here. We have very experienced staff who can quickly identify gaps in children’s learning and respond effectively.”

The Ofsted report also highlighted the “strong and beneficial relationships” that children develop with their “key person” at the preschool. It commended the support provided to help new children settle in, engage in activities, and explore independently.
