The Wareham Public School district has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the state to enhance collaboration with local early education programs.
Wendy Owens, the Preschool Department Chairperson, stated that the district is currently in the planning stages for the grant’s use but has several ideas in mind.
The school district aims to partner with local private early education institutions, including Best Friend’s Learning Center, Little People’s College, and the South Shore Early Learning Center.
Through these partnerships, the district will provide support in key areas such as speech development, social skills, and behavioral skills, as well as special education assistance for these centers.
Additionally, Owens mentioned that the district plans to offer professional development opportunities for teachers. To further improve preschool services, the Boston-based research firm Early Childhood Associates will assist in evaluating and enhancing preschool and childcare offerings in the community.
“We want to create a strong partnership between the school and local preschools,” said Matt D’Andrea, the Superintendent of Wareham Public Schools. “Our goal is to ensure that children receive essential services to better prepare them for kindergarten and their academic journey.”
