Doha, Qatar – The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has announced the launch of a new Higher Education Certificate in Early Childhood Education. This initiative, beginning in the 2024-25 academic year, is in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE).
The certificate program is designed to prepare graduates for roles as assistant teachers in schools. It will be available to 101 female students sponsored by MoEHE and spans one year, featuring 10 core courses divided over two semesters.
The curriculum includes a wide range of topics, such as children’s psychosocial development, modern teaching methods for science, mathematics, and languages, digital skills, and educational assessment. This comprehensive program aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, emphasizing human development.
Dr. Al Jazi Faraj Al Athba, Dean of the Liberal Arts Division, highlighted the program’s significance. “We are thrilled to launch this certificate, reflecting our strong collaboration with MoEHE. This program reinforces CCQ’s role as a leading higher education institution, adapting to changes in the education sector and offering innovative solutions to societal and job market challenges,” said Dr. Al Athba.
He added, “This initiative is a crucial step towards enhancing the school education system. It prepares a new generation of educators with the latest teaching techniques to ensure high-quality care and education for young children.”
The program addresses the growing need for qualified early childhood educators by combining theoretical knowledge with practical training, supporting the intellectual and social development of children.
