As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Access Holdings Plc has donated two coaster buses to Bethesda Child Support Agency to bolster educational access for vulnerable children. The handover ceremony took place at Access Holdings’ headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, and was led by the company’s human resources and executive office team.
This donation marks a pivotal moment in Access Holdings’ ongoing mission to provide quality education to 1,000 underprivileged children across Nigeria. For over a decade, this mission has been a cornerstone of the company’s CSR efforts.
The newly donated buses will play a vital role in Bethesda’s operations, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of children to and from school. By addressing transportation challenges, these buses remove a significant barrier to education for many young students. Over the years, a dedicated team of around 20 employees has channeled resources—primarily from personal contributions—into supporting Bethesda’s wide-ranging services, which include education, healthcare, and essential support for underserved children. This partnership exemplifies how corporate and individual efforts can extend beyond philanthropy, directly impacting lives and fostering community development.
During the handover event, Victor Willie, Head of Government and Stakeholder Relations at Access Holdings PLC, highlighted the transformative nature of the partnership. He remarked, “This collaboration with Bethesda is more than just a philanthropic gesture; it’s about creating tangible opportunities and breaking the cycle of poverty for vulnerable children. The buses we’ve donated will help Bethesda reach more children, ensuring they have access to the education that is fundamental to their growth and the future of our nation.”
Access Holdings’ donation of two buses to Bethesda Child Support Agency is seen as a critical step towards achieving broader educational equity for Nigeria’s out-of-school children. In a country where millions of children still lack access to education, removing transportation barriers represents significant progress in addressing this pressing societal challenge.
Nkoyo Rapu, founder of Bethesda Child Support Agency, expressed deep gratitude for Access Holdings’ continued support. She stated, “Access Holdings has been a dedicated partner in our mission for over ten years. This latest donation of buses will change the lives of countless children who otherwise would have had no access to education. Their support underscores the power of collective responsibility and demonstrates what can be achieved when organizations truly commit to community upliftment. Together, we are unlocking doors of opportunity for those who need it most.”
The partnership between Access Holdings and Bethesda Child Support Agency underscores the company’s commitment to education as a foundation for capacity building, nation-building, and sustainable community development.
