Mt. Calvary Lutheran Early Education Centers and Kid’s Corner, both affiliated with Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, provide excellent educational opportunities for local families.
The primary school, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Early Education Center, is situated on the church campus in Lake Arrowhead. Conveniently located behind Rim of the World High School off Highway 18, this center features modern, centralized classrooms in a newly renovated building from 2009. The campus includes a flat, fenced playground for children’s enjoyment and parents’ peace of mind. Despite damage to the play equipment from the severe snowstorm in 2023, the school is excited to welcome new equipment for the 2024-2025 school year.
Kid’s Corner, established as a mission school in 1998, is located in downtown Running Springs, across from the San Bernardino County Running Springs Library. This campus also features a fully fenced playground and serves the central and eastern areas of the mountaintop community.
Both schools offer a Christ-centered curriculum, secure campuses, and a range of engaging activities. Students and families can enjoy events such as Trike-A-Thons, Christmas Parties, Worm Races, Pastries with Parents, Goodies with Grandparents, and trips to places like the Pumpkin Patch and the Living Desert in Palm Desert. The annual Trunk-or-Treat provides a safe alternative for Halloween festivities.
Staff members at Mt. Calvary emphasize what makes their schools special. Kim Kopecky, an administrator, highlights the benefits of small class sizes and a Christ-centered curriculum. Pastor Randy Buecheler praises the teaching staff for their dedication and close-knit community. Senior teacher sentiments reflect the warm, family-like atmosphere: “I love it here. It’s like family at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.”
