New Delhi: In a significant initiative to enhance the quality of education in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) schools, 48 principals have completed an intensive five-day training program at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. This effort by the Delhi government aims to raise MCD schools to the standards of Delhi government schools.
Delhi Education Minister Atishi, along with Mayor Shelly Oberoi, welcomed the principals upon their return to discuss the outcomes of their training. Atishi stressed the importance of providing educators with world-class exposure, stating, “Arvind Kejriwal believes that unless teachers receive world-class exposure, they cannot deliver world-class education to children. That’s why we have sent MCD school principals to IIM for training, so they can bring back this world-class knowledge to enhance their schools.”
Atishi praised the principals’ enthusiasm and dedication, highlighting that their commitment is crucial for the improvement of MCD schools. She urged them to apply the skills they learned during the training as part of a mission to transform their schools, saying, “You principals are the hope for a better future for lakhs of children studying in MCD schools and their parents. Use every skill you’ve acquired from this training to improve your schools.” She also emphasized the need for principals to make every child feel valued and unafraid of attending school.
Mayor Shelly Oberoi noted the shift in focus towards the professional development of MCD school staff, a change that began after the Aam Aadmi Party government took office. “Before 2022, there was little attention given to the teachers and principals in MCD schools. But after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government, we have given full respect to our teachers and principals,” she said. Oberoi added that the training was designed to enhance management and leadership skills, which are essential for improving school performance.
