New Early Learning Center Utilizes Technology in Teaching

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A new Early Learning Center has opened at the Boys & Girls Club in Flour Bluff, offering a tech-driven approach to early childhood education. The center is enrolling students as young as six weeks old, aiming to provide a strong foundation for future learning.

Children are grouped by age and introduced to a curriculum that aligns with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) standards. Each program is tailored to the learning potential of its age group, ensuring a smooth transition from toddlerhood to kindergarten—a crucial stage of development that the Boys & Girls Club board recognized as lacking in the area.

“Typically, we serve kids aged 6 to 18, but we decided to take a chance on serving younger children because there aren’t many early learning centers in Coastal Bend,” said Kim Barrientos, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Bend. “When we developed our center, we made sure to integrate technology into the curriculum.”

The center features smartboards, iPads, and other modern teaching tools that children will encounter in their future classrooms.

Enrollment at the Boys & Girls Club Early Learning Center is now open, and workforce assistance is available to support parents.
