Helmand Youth Provides Free Education to 300 Children at Home

LASHKARAH (Pajhwok): In the Greshk district of southern Helmand province, a young man named Abdul Qadeer Pasoon has been providing free education to children, including girls, up to the third grade at his home for the past two years. Despite his efforts, Pasoon faces significant challenges due to a lack of classrooms and stationery.

Pasoon has established classes for 300 children, including 70 girls, in the Terma area. He, along with two teachers who bear all expenses, is dedicated to educating these children. The primary issues they encounter are insufficient stationery and limited space.

Pasoon began this initiative two years ago, converting his home into a school that has since enrolled 300 students. The two teachers teach the children at different times of the day.

The village, home to about 80 families, has lacked a school for centuries. Pasoon’s initiative has had a positive impact, with children who previously roamed the streets now able to read and write.

Pasoon calls on the government and charitable organizations to assist in building classrooms and providing necessary books and stationery.

The children attending these classes express their happiness but also highlight the need for a proper school. Izzatullah, a student, said, “We are taught well here, but our biggest problem is space shortage. Hot and cold weather interrupt our lessons.” Another student, Zayha, aspires to become a doctor or a teacher and urges the government to provide them with books and stationery.

Maulvi Mohammad Qasim Riaz, the spokesman for the Helmand governor, stated that the Islamic Emirate is committed to providing education to children across all provinces and districts. He assured that with the support of the provincial government and educational organizations, young educators like Pasoon would receive the necessary support to overcome their challenges.

In Helmand, many districts still lack basic facilities such as schools, hospitals, electricity, telecommunication services, and roads.
