Nine Early Learning Centers in Cenla Attend Child Development Workshop

by Beatrice

On Monday, July 22, nine early learning centers in Cenla participated in a child development workshop led by LeeAnn Price from Foundations Christian Learning Center.

During the workshop, educators explored various aspects of a child’s brain, learned about conscious discipline strategies, and how to apply these strategies in their classrooms.

Conscious discipline is a professional development approach for early learning staff. It focuses on a child’s self-regulation, creating a sense of safety, fostering connection, and building problem-solving skills.

All nine early learning centers closed their doors for the workshop on July 22. Price emphasized that these centers recognize their significant impact on the Cenla community and the future of the children they educate.

LeeAnn Price, the owner and director of Foundations Christian Learning Center, believes early learning educators play a crucial role in shaping the lives of young children.

“In early childhood, we are brain builders,” Price explained. “It’s a social-emotional learning program, not traditional discipline. We aim to empower children from the inside out, encouraging cooperation. We approach behaviors in early childhood differently to meet the needs of the child in the classroom effectively.”

Over 100 early learning teachers from Cenla attended the workshop, dedicating hours to enhance their understanding of child development. They aim to positively impact thousands of young residents in the Cenla community.
