President Bola Ahmed Tinubu affirmed on Tuesday in Abuja that the federal government would prioritize investment in Nigeria’s arts and culture sector due to its crucial role in children’s education. He made these remarks during the presentation of the stage play “Abibatu Mogaji: The Play,” dedicated to his late mother.
Tinubu highlighted the sector’s significance in preserving Nigeria’s heritage and promoting its diverse cultural richness. He emphasized personal anecdotes, recalling his upbringing under his mother’s care and expressing gratitude for the play’s tribute to her.

“I will support this play as a recognition of its meticulous research,” Tinubu stated, acknowledging the efforts of the producer, Ola Awakan, and other contributors. He also acknowledged the presence of notable personalities like Adams Oshiomhole, underscoring their familiarity with his mother’s firm yet nurturing character.
The producer, Ola Awakan, echoed the importance of values such as mentorship, resilience, and good governance, embodied by Abibatu Mogaji. He emphasized that the play aimed to immortalize her legacy and inspire current and future generations of Nigerians.
Tinubu concluded by reaffirming his commitment to investing in Nigeria’s cultural and artistic development for the betterment of society and the education of children. He expressed gratitude to attendees for commemorating his mother’s life and contributions.
