Bezos Academy Expands Preschool Access in Louisville
Louisville, Ky. — Bezos Academy is set to launch the first of three new preschools in Louisville by next year’s end, beginning with Okolona. In partnership with LDG Development, the initiative aims to address the pressing need for accessible early childhood education in underserved areas like Okolona, Russell, Fairdale, and an upcoming fourth location yet to be disclosed.
“Allison Leader, Director of Communications for Bezos Academy, emphasized the Academy’s commitment to bridging educational disparities. ‘There’s a big gap there, and we are trying to move the needle. When we go into a new community, we find a place that meets that data,'” Leader stated.
The Academy will adopt a Montessori-style curriculum, offered tuition-free to families meeting income eligibility criteria. “The only qualification you have to have is an income level of about $120,000 for a family of four as your max. So, anyone below that is eligible to apply, which means there is a lottery system,” Leader explained.
The year-round program will accommodate 80 students aged 3 to 5 across four classrooms, with a primary goal of ensuring equitable access to quality education for all Louisville children.
Applications for enrollment via the lottery system will open this August.
