The NCERT’s joint director inaugurated the ‘The Prashiksan- Training the Trainers’ regional workshop, focusing on the fundamental principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This workshop, conducted in collaboration with the NCERT Expert Panel and the Council of CBSE Schools Kerala (CCSK), took place at the Chavara CMI Public School in Pala, Kottayam.
Prof. Sridhar Srivastava, the Joint Director of NCERT, emphasized the significance of identifying and nurturing the unique abilities of each student. He urged educators to design engaging classroom environments that foster a range of skills and values among students. “Schools should provide learning experiences that develop students’ competencies and values for real-life applications,” he remarked.
Prof. Srivastava also highlighted the concept of collective individualism within the Indian education system and advocated for the promotion of Indian cultural values. He pointed out that NEP 2020 encourages a flexible approach to learning various subjects, promoting multidisciplinary education without rigid boundaries.
Dr. Indira Rajan, the Secretary-General of the National Council of CBSE Schools, who chaired the event, lauded educators as the pillars of the nation responsible for shaping young minds and futures. She emphasized the critical role of schools, where children spend approximately 25,000 hours, in fostering mission-oriented learning, instilling values, and building competencies.
Referencing Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. Rajan envisioned a future where every child has access to quality education, fostering innovation, creativity, and knowledge dissemination across society.
Suchitra Shyjinth, the General Secretary of CCSK and a master trainer of CBSE, stressed the importance of integrating competencies into classroom practices through diverse learning experiences. She discussed strategies for schools to achieve excellence and demonstrate it through their educational approaches.
