The FCEDC recently announced that a new D-BAT Baseball and Softball Academy is set to open at 3725 Ramsey Street, with an anticipated opening in late April and an initial creation of 10 jobs.
D-BAT operates 135 baseball and softball training facilities across the country, and this Fayetteville location marks the fifth D-BAT franchise in North Carolina, as well as the first in the eastern part of the state. The academy is renowned for its high-level instructors who have worked with over 20 first-round Major League Baseball draft picks. They offer year-round training opportunities in hitting, pitching, catching, fielding, agility, strength and conditioning, all in a climate-controlled environment.
Wayne Richey, the owner of the Fayetteville franchise and an active-duty soldier, was attracted to D-BAT’s mission and the chances it provides. “As I transition out of the military and into civilian life, my family has decided to plant our roots here in Fayetteville and give back to our community,” Wayne said in a press release. He also mentioned that the facility will include 12 indoor batting cages, cutting-edge technology, and 15,000 square feet of space.
The Pro Shop will offer bats, gloves, and other accessories, which can be tested inside the facility before purchase. D-BAT has partnered with Rawlings to provide a variety of products suitable for all skill levels. Memberships will include discounted options for batting cage rentals and private lessons, with the location expected to host camps and clinics throughout the year.
“We are excited to welcome D-BAT to Fayetteville,” said Rob Patton, Executive Vice President of FCEDC. “Wayne and his family are a great example of how our military families contribute to the area. We look forward to seeing this facility grow as a part of our Can-Do community!”
